Hello! My name is Azeema, and I am a dedicated Orton-Gillingham (OG) certified reading specialist with years of experience helping students develop their literacy skills. My passion lies in providing structured, multi-sensory reading instruction to learners with diverse needs, ensuring they gain confidence and proficiency in reading and writing.

Experience :

• I have been working as a Reading Specialist at Milestones Day School & Transition Program, where I teach reading using the Orton-Gillingham (OG) approach while incorporating other evidence-based methods to tailor instruction to each student’s unique learning needs. My students range from elementary to post-high school and include individuals with autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and attention or psychiatric challenges. I develop individualized learning plans, write IEP goals, and track student progress using both formal and informal assessments, such as the QRI, GORT, TOWL, and GSRT. I am passionate about providing instruction to help students overcome reading challenges and reach their full potential.
• Prior to this, I trained as an OG tutor at the Carroll School, where I completed the Garside Institute for Teacher Training program. Additionally, I worked as a Cognitive Development Teacher, focusing on building cognitive skills essential for reading comprehension, problem-solving, and academic success.

Education :

• I hold an Associate-Level certification in Orton-Gillingham, equipping me with the skills to deliver explicit, systematic instruction to students with language-based learning differences.
• My academic background includes a Master’s in Professional School Guidance Counseling from Cambridge College and a degree in Human Growth Development and Counseling Psychology from Wheelock College (now Boston University).

Orton-Gillingham Training Information :

• I trained as an OG tutor at the Carroll School, where I completed the Garside Institute for Teacher Training program
