I have been a special education teacher for 28 years and have been a case manager for students on the autism spectrum disorder, other health impairments, moderate and mild learning disabilities, and students who are severely cognitively impaired. I provide individualized assessment and research-based, multi-sensory methods as a part of my tutoring services to individuals and small groups of students using the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading, writing, and spelling. In addition to my Orton-Gillingham training, I am also trained in the handwriting program, Handwriting Without Tears, a research-backed program that provides hands-on tools to build vocabulary and fine motor knowledge with a multi-sensory approach that engages learners visually, auditorily, and kinesthetically.
