Rate: $50-$60 Available For: Private Tutoring, Online

San Antonio, Texas

My name is Stacy Griffith and I am a wife and mom of two girls, and a GiGi to two beautiful boys. I, as well as my husband, served in the Air Force for a combined 27 years. I went to college at UTSA and graduated with my Bachelors in Education and a Master’s in Literacy Education, go Roadrunners! I was born and raised in Tennessee, but eventually found home in Texas in 2005.
I have been a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist for 5 years and I absolutely love it. I worked in public school for 14 years, but working 1-1 with kids is by far my favorite. Now I can customize my teaching for where they are, not where the school is telling me to begin. Seeing the "light bulb" go off is priceless, as well as seeing their confidence build as a reader.
I hope we can work together soon.

Experience :

  • I have been in education for 15 years. I started as a Kinder and 2nd Grade teacher. I received my Masters Degree and then worked as a Reading Coach and Reading Specialist. I went back to school and have been a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist for 5 years now in K-5th and 11th grade.
  • Training as a CALT requires 200 hours of therapy-level training, 700 hours under supervised practicum, and a national certification exam.
  • I have recently started my own therapy business, which is different from tutoring. Therapy requires additional time, intensity, and diagnostic instruction to build foundational skills students need to be proficient learners.

Education :

  • Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies December 2009
  • University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Masters of Education, Literacy Education Concentration December 2015
  • Reading Specialist
  • University of Texas at San Antonio
  • Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) June 2021
  • Scottish Rite Hospital- Take Flight and BUILD

Orton-Gillingham Training Information :

  • I have been trained as a Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) through Scottish Rite Hospital in the programs Take Flight & BUILD. Take Flight is for grades 2nd and higher, while BUILD is for Kinder and 1st grade. I am ALTA certified, which indicates the highest level of knowledge and experience in providing intensive instruction for those with dyslexia and other learning needs.
