I am a retired public school Speech/Language Therapist. For 17 years, I have been a SLANT-certified Orton Gillingham tutor for those with dyslexia. Together, we can make it happen. Contact me.

Experience :

• After working as a speech and language therapist in public elementary schools in southeastern Wisconsin and Lake County, Illinois, for 22 years, I retired to help those with reading and spelling difficulties. I became certified as a dyslexia instructor through the SLANT System, an Orton Gillingham teaching method. During my career in elementary schools, I served on the special education teams, doing assessments for eligibility for special education services, writing Individual Education Plans & implementing those plans.

Education :

• In addition to being a licensed speech/language therapist, in 2007, I completed the 40-hour practicum to become certified in the SLANT System, I have used this training to help students in school and after-school tutoring.

Orton-Gillingham Training Information :

• Besides my dyslexia certification, I have been a member of the Illinois Speech/Language/ Hearing Association for 27 years partaking in the professional development at the Annual Conferences. I've been a member of the Illinois Dyslexia Association (now ERI) for 17 years & have attended its annual conferences. In 2006 I took the 3-day Wilson Introductory training. In 2017 I took the 5-day Advanced Literacy Instruction through Nicolet College in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, In 2020 I completed the required 30 hours of training for the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education's Comprehensive Course. To stay up-to-date in the science of reading, I have participated in the 5 yearly SLANT Seminars since 2008.
