As a former teacher who has a dyslexic child, I have a passion for helping struggling readers figure out the code to our English language. I have a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood from UTSA, plus I am trained in the Orton-Gillingham and Slingerland method, the gold standards of reading intervention. I can help fill in the gaps and get your child on the road to success through individualized, one on one literacy intervention lessons.My daughter was diagnosed in third grade but I knew there was something not quite right when she was as little as 3 years old. It turned out that it was not “developmental” and by the time I figured out what she needed, she was far behind the others in her class. I tutored her at home and now she is graduating with honors. I am here to help bridge the gaps in skills and give hope to worried parents and frustrated learners. English is NOT a mystery language. All you need is the key to unlock the code that most people never learn in school. Dyslexics just take a different neuropathway to the language center of the brain. Experience :

• I taught over ten years in the local NEISD here in San Antonio. I was a K-1 teacher and loved every minute of it. While I was teaching, I was lead teacher many years over 5-6 fellow grade level co-workers. We had training in Core Knowledge, Slingerland Dyslexia intervention and I have also been trained more recently in the Orton- Gillingham method. My daughter is dyslexic and I tutored her from 3rd grade on. She graduated with honors in 2020 from high school,

• I trained under fellow Laurie Leason, in 2019- 2020, through the AOGPE. I also had Slingerland training while I was a public school teacher. I have hundreds of hours of professional development in the area of reading intervention as well.
