Norwell, Massachusetts
My path to Orton Gillingham began when my own son was identified as having a learning disability in second grade. Later, my second son was identified as well. It was then that I began work on a Master's Degree in Special Ed, Learning Disabilities. After years of teaching in Massachusetts and Florida, I found my way to the Carroll School. As Assessment Coordinator and part of the Admissions team, I had a wonderful opportunity to be a part of the unique and powerful work of the practitioners of Orton-Gillingham. I saw first hand the ways dyslexic students' lives can be changed. The commitment of the Carroll School is that "dyslexia allows children to see the world differently and aren't we lucky they do?" I am convinced of that and look forward to helping other students on the South Shore with learning differences to understand their "dyslexic advantage."
