Experience :

• For the past 8 years, I have made it my mission to assist as many students with dyslexia and their parents/families as possible. This led me to create WNY Dyslexia Specialists, LLC.
• Currently, WNY Dyslexia Specialists, LLC is serving nearly 70 students in the Western NY area and beyond through in-person and remote instruction.
• I started out as a teacher and mom with two children who struggled to read and write despite being very bright. I didn't realize until they were teenagers and young adults that their struggle had a name. It is called dyslexia. Couple my experience as a mom of dyslexic children with my passion for teaching, which led to tutoring students who fit the dyslexia profile.
• I never stop learning. I'm currently an associate-in-training with the Orton Gillingham Academy. I've completed my coursework and am about to begin my year-long practicum. I've transitioned all my personal students over to the prescriptive and diagnostic OG approach.

Education :

• I graduated from SUNY Oswego with my BS in Elementary Education. After that, I completed my Master's degree at the University at Buffalo and majored in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Reading.

Orton-Gillingham Training Information :

• Challenging myself to learn new things is important to me. I was certified in the Barton Reading & Spelling System in 2016. Afterward, in 2019, I took a certificate class from the Dyslexia Training Institute to advocate for students with dyslexia in CSE meetings.
• Last year, I focused on my business. I completed the CORE program, which is a class for entrepreneurs and C-Suite business leaders sponsored by the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership (CEL) at the University at Buffalo.
• I recently completed my 64 hours of coursework to begin my journey to becoming an Associate Level interventionist with the Orton Gillingham Academy.
